Now, I'm an Aussie so it could just be I'm looking at it upside down or something, BUT, shouldn't the stars be on his right shoulder blade?

No, when the US flag is hung down like that the stars should always be in the top left corner

For the land of the free, we sure have a lot of rules about hang the flag this way, don't hang the flag that way, oh my god never hang the flag like that what are you thinking.

But we follow almost none of them, since we hang em off the back of trucks, wear them as clothing, and drape them over our naked bodies.

The law means you cant cut a flag and wear it, not an unofficial item on which the pattern is printed on :)
