We use this awful password reset tool in my company, and one of the security questions you can set is "What is your favorite color?" Which in itself is probably not a terribly secure question, but it also has a 5 character minimum requirement, so if your answer is blue, red, pink, etc. You can't really use the question unless you find a new favorite color.
I know its not quite the same(and probably harder to remember) but you could go with more specific colors like cobalt or cerulean, scarlet or crimson, carnation or mauve, ect. Of course this doesn't do much if your favorite color is ruby, wine, rose or navy, but at least you have some more color options for favorite color that can work.
That's very true. I'm actually in IT so my concern is more for the users who tend to be a bit less...skilled with these kinds of things, but that's definitely a good suggestion to try with them. Thanks!
Glad to help. Hopefully my advice doesn't lead to people not remembering their favorite color.
Picking "werid" colors is probably actually more sercure anyway. Someone is just way less likely to guess your favourite color is tangerine, even if the bright orange vehicle you drive might normally be a giveaway. (as an example)
