Not to defend thin skin, but back in 1997 social media wasn't as dangerous as it is now. In such polarizing times, anyones fair game for getting privately flamed on for weeks on end. No ones immune to such things, and with an age of digital info, more and more people can find you and harass you physically. Now thats not to say what this could also be talked about: short fuses. Offend anyone, theyll tend to get triggered. But people these days are easily offended by a lot; nevertheless people shouldnt get harassed for their moral and values(unless there is concrete evidence that proves they will hurt someone), no matter what. So the easily offended shouldnt be attacked by those who see it as a joke, but they shouldnt be enabled to continue either; they should be told to shy away from what or who is offending them, and try to learn that the world is a bit harsher for their tastes and adapt.
Sometimes this is true. Sometimes people overreact and make fools out of themselves. But othertimes, people are just complete assholes and then when they get called out for it they say "oh my god I can't believe everyone is so sensitive nowadays. Back in the 60s you could call anyone a c*nt without any repercussions. Those were the days." Maybe people are just done with your bullshit.
