I feel with ya.. Must be really hard to see all this cute pets without be able to cuddle with them how much you want :/

Most dogs don't mess with me thankfully (weirdly pit bulls give me a headache) and when I was little my grandmother had a Siamese that didn't bother me and she rolled around in my clothes because they smelled like me so if pets ever become an option I have a few "won't cause malfunctions" choices
