To reason is not to man. All creatures with a brain are capable of reason some of which are more capable than some humans. A pig is more capable of such than a 3 year old human child.

Look up studies done on the intelligence of animals. The pig example is a very commonly used one. Crows and ravens are capable of adapting to new situations with multiple variables and creating and using tools. Chimps are shown to be able to solve puzzles and there has been one or 2 horses shown to be able to do basic arithmetic. Reasoning isn't a purely human trait.

I get it if it was a shark but that's a whale, the gentle giants of the ocean

But even they can cause serious damage without bad intent. It they breach in the wrong pkace they can capsize a boat that size.
