I use them because with my dyslexia I have trouble fully understanding the conversation so Sub titles help and sometimes they will translate for you what is said in a foreign language.
Also I like to watch videos in public like the gym and sub titles let me know what they are saying with out others hearing it lol that is if I forgot to bring my earphones
I have read books while listen to the unabridged audio version. I find it very relaxing . I also found audiobooks very expensive and har to find before the World Wide Web came along.
