There is something I don't get in this, and this is a serious question from me: why are we so amazed when famous people commit acts of kindness? A lot of people are kind and compassionate, so... do we collectively think that celebrities must be absolute dicks, and need to be reassured that some of them are not?
(other guest here) I don't think it's so much being amazed that celebrities are kind than it is that celebrities are more likely than an average person to be a role model for many people, and if you want your message of "hey, be a good person like this guy!" to reach as many people as possible, you focus on people that already have an audience.
Although it may be what you suggested, that we like overturning the notion that power corrupts and makes famous people become jerks.
I also think it's because celebrity news is usually 'who got arrested' or 'guess who did some drugs' or ' watch this celeb kick puppies' and it's just refreshing to see some good news
