Did you know? That’s not technically true? The Nazi gas chambers of the Holocaust stand as evidence that he certainly did not have a complete ban on chemical weapons. While a THEORY is that Hitler refused to use chemical weapons because of his WWI experiences, it has never been confirmed. One of the Nazis top scientific voices on the matter told Hitler that the allies had developed complete counter measures against the Nazi chemical weapons. Some of which the Nazis did not even have counters for. So two equally supported theories are that Hitler figured he’d harm his troops more than the allies (some even say the Dr. who gave that wrong information did so on purpose as he’d switched sides to the allies.) and that Hitler feared equal or worse reprisal if he used such weapons. Whichever way, the Nazis turned out literally ton loads of chemical weapons including inventing sarin and other nerve agents that remain some of the deadliest in the world today, and used agents like Zyklon B.
