This is a common logical fallacy. However, for 99.9% of people on earth there will always be someone dying, someone starving, homeless, someone who has less than you. If this logic were true- when could anyone be upset? The truth is, if you’ve never had a problem you any really understand it no matter how much you try. You can be sympathetic, try to empathize, but that’s it. You’ll never know what it’s like to lose a child or survive a heart attack until or if you do. The best you can do is compare those things to what experiences you have with loss and suffering. If the worst thing that has ever happened to you is that you were late for work, or lost your diamonds, that is the worst pain you know in your life. There is nothing worse for you to compare to. Your pain is no less real and no less intense to you. If you stub your toe so I shoot the person next to you in the knee, does your toe hurt less? Are the two related at all? If you don’t find your diamonds will those people live?
