Don't. Verdigris is toxic. Unsurprisingly.

Not rust- corrosion. Rust is technically a type of corrosion, but specifically refers to the process of oxidation in materials containing iron. Corrosion can occur to any material, but most commonly refers to metals with effectively no iron, or where the iron isn’t part of the environmental reaction causing break down. For instance- most any steel will rust. Aluminum does not rust, it corrodes. Brass also corrodes, and tends to take on blues and greens when it does.

Cool, nice to know. What kind of corrosion are we seeing there? My first idea way copper, because it gets greenish, but that's way beyond green. So, that's brass?

I’m not the best at metallurgy, but I’d lean towards some sort of brass or alloy of brass as well. As you say, copper tends to turn green, and can get to the aqua spectrum like this, but I’m not sold on copper. So I’m thinking brass or brass alloy, but can’t say definitively and wouldn’t fight someone more experienced or educated on the pertinent matters to correct me.
