Well I don't know about morphs since I've only owned 1 reptile, a tiger stripped gecko. I've owned 5 dogs and 1 cat, not all at once. i was just looking at whatever my local pet store had.
That's fair haha, I was just asking because you were commenting on that python's pattern. Morph is mostly just a fancy way of indicating the python's colouration and pattern. https://bioventures.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/bpposter4.jpg

There's an example of some there, although there's literally dozens of different morphs.
Pet stores most commonly seem to carry variants of pastel and banana morphs

I had a friend with a pastel that he let me hold, very friendly snake.
They're definitely one of the most docile snakes :) though they each have their own personalities it seems. It helps if the store has already worked towards socializing them somewhat

I loved my gecko, he definitely had a personality. He'd either be happy enough to crawl throughout my shirt or be hungry enough to eat a whole box of crickets.
Aw that sounds really cute! I've only owned the snake in the reptile department (and Even though her temperament is great, she still prefers being antisocial) but the little lizards are so much fun. My mom always had a soft spot for the little bearded dragons

Thats pretty sweet. My 6th grade teacher had a bearded dragon in her enclosure, amazing to just watch. I miss my gecko very much actually, i felt bonded with it. Cant wait to get another.
I know most people wouldn't think you could develop a deep bond with a reptile, but you just never know. I'm sorry you lost your little guy :/ are you getting a new one soon? Or just looking to the future?

I'm looking torwards it but I just moved into a new house about a month ago so I need furniture first, then i plan on getting a slithery friend.
Lol - Chairs I can understand. Entirely overrated. But I would highly suggest making a bed a priority, cause messing up your back on the floor limits cuddle time with the reptiles, and that just is unacceptable.

Side note - you may already know this, but just in case, thought I'd mention that ball python's can be finicky eaters, so if you end up with one it's something to keep in mind

Oh I remember how picky my gecko was, loved crickets and some fruits but everything else in his natural diet was off the tables. I will end up studying a python's diet and living situations before I get one though. My sister's had one so I'll ask her as well about some tips and such; and not to worry, I have a bed on the way, I'm just waiting for a phone call, thanks for the concern.
Well I was mostly joking since I figured you'd take care of having a bed how you saw fit haha, but it's good you're getting one.
What else do they normally eat? I'm assuming some other kinds of insects and such.
With python's it can be a combo of being picky about what they eat, but also when they eat (some of them will fast before/during sheds, during winter, and for no apparent reason whatsoever). But if your sister had one she probably knows a lot about them anyway and I'm preaching to the choir. I've seen a lot of new owners (myself included) get insanely stressed over their diet habits, though, so it's something I like to mention as a just in case

It's been a couple years since I had my gecko but I remember I bought cricket boxes for around $1.89 a box or so and it had roughly 25-30 crickets in it and I'd casually feed him raspberries and strawberries. She too had he snake a couple years ago. Now she owns a hedgehog that's the cutest thing to be stabbed by.
Haha sounds like your gecko was living the life.
Hedgehogs are adorable tbh. I knew a girl who owned one when I was a kid, they're so cute

He was a very bright gecko, he'd sleep on my shoulder while I'd either be reading or gaming. I was always nervous to hold a hedgehog, kinda ironic since i can hold spiders and snakes without worrying.
That's really sweet. :) sometimes I wish my snake was more cuddly but for the most part she just wants to be in her den haha
Tbh I think rodents are more likely to bite you than reptiles haha. Depending on the rodent it could hurt a lot more, also. Snakes and large spiders almost always give you some degree of warning before they strike.

It's all about staying calm, managing to keep your heart rate slow as a fast heart rate will excite the reptile and he'll be more inclined to strike while an animal will see every object as a potential predator since they do not have the senses that reptiles do. I've seen this in action when the same snake that I held, another girl held and she freaked out and got bit.
Indeed. Snakes also have very few other defences, and tend to have poorer eyesight for things that aren't in motion. And flinging your face at something makes you a lot more vulnerable. Younger snakes tend to be a lot nipper, but when they get older they generally would prefer to make you back off or run away.
Tbh, if it was less stressful for her, I think my girl would be pretty decent for helping people be educated or overcome their fear of snakes. She's never so much as hissed at a person. Even some poor guy who looked about ready to have a panic attack but wanted to hold her, she just kind of chilled in his hand
She probably looks plain to most aficionados, but I think she is. :) she actually just finished shedding the night before last

Awe, it's always real neat to watch them shed their skin. I remember I'd always find my geckos skin laying around, his littles toes would have left over skin on them he'd let me clean them off. Real patient he was.
Tbh, I rarely get to see her do an actual shed. Ball python's are pretty reclusive by nature, but it's very hard for them to see when they're getting close to sheds (especially when their eyecaps are cloudy), so she usually somehow just spins herself around inside her den until her skin is off (at which point she also usually poops <_<) and I find it when I go to clean her. This time she decided to come out far enough to wriggle between a bend in a branch in her enclosure so I got to see a bit of it and preserve the skin so it was a lot more exciting than it normally is. :)
I'm coming to the conclusion everything about your gecko may have been adorable haha. How did you get his skin off?

He'd just hold still and I'd put pressure on where ever it was he was shedding and let him to the rest. If he looked uncomfortable, I'd let him be and he'd deal with it himself, a lot of the time though, he was pretty chill with the aid and I'd give him something sweet for the cooperation.
Ah, makes sense. Anytime my girl has a bad shed I have to give her a bath, and then grip whatever part of her still has skin with a wet cloth and let her pull herself through. It's only happened a couple of times, and thankfully never had an eyecap issue, but she always seems very confused about the whole thing haha

It's been a couple years so my memories a bit fuzzy but i do remember one time i upset him somehow and he latched onto my finger l, felt very weird, like a toothless baby was biting you. After about a minute or so, i think he realized i wasnt a threat and let go. I figured he was hungry or tired and set a box of cickets in his habitat and said goodnight.
aw, we'll it doesn't sound like he was trying to do any harm at least. But we're all entitled to bad days :)
Tbh the biggest thing I worry about if my snake ever struck at me would be that I'd flinch reflexively and accidentally hurt HER haha.
