I watched this a couple years ago. It was the first time as an adult. I was horrified at what a peice of shit Rambo is. When you boil it down the plot is basically a homeless man is arrested, escapes custody, and then commits multiple felonies including capital murder. I know PTSD is a factor but he still should have gotten the death penalty.
You forget the prejudice of the sheriff and the abuse by the deputies.
Plus the escalation during the manhunt by the deputies.
In my eyes both sides are to blame.
The thing was that he was arrested for no reason and the police were abusing him for his appearance. Not saying Rambo was right but they did indeed draw first blood
The sheriff gave him a ride to the edge of town and was going to leave him alone. When he returned to town he was arrested because he refused to show ID and was carrying a concealed weapon when frisked. That seems legit. Now in the jail he was treated roughly, a nightstick to the back and a kick are the only actions you could really consider abuse. In return he assaulted 7 law enforcement officers (including David Caruso), throwing two of them through windows and rendering at least some unconscious. He then escaped custody, killed a deputy, injured a bunch of people (most of whom didn’t abuse him), blew up a couple buildings, stole a lot of stuff, and attempted to murder the injured sheriff before being talked down. That’s a lot of felonies.
You’re not wrong. Like I said Rambo may not have been right but he didn’t start it. He was minding his own business and just wanted to go to town for some food
Plus the escalation during the manhunt by the deputies.
In my eyes both sides are to blame.
