For those who don't know

Whenever this question comes up for any job, ask yourself- can you do it yourself as well? Likely not most of the time since if you could, or just anyone could, you wouldn’t be looking for someone to do it for you. Well... not always. Maybe you CAN do it,but really don’t want to, and likely whatever makes it a pain in the ass for you makes it a pain in the ass for others, so they’ll charge to offset the fact they’d rather be doing something else. It’s about time. It takes as much time to learn to speed play Mario 3 as it does to play beautiful piano solos, but you'd likely pay more to have one at your wedding than the other. It takes time to learn a skill, to do a job, and it takes you time to earn money to pay for things. It takes them time to earn money to buy tools of the trade. It disrespects someone to question what their time is worth to them. Pay it or don’t. If the price is truly unfair you can find someone who is charging less and is as good or better.
