What a sad way to have to grow up.. I feel for the kids that grow up in homes that only are in it for the free government money

Foster Care isn't actually very profitable anymore. Unfortunately to make any money out of it one has to neglected the child pretty hard. And good parents are actually cost money by having foster kids because the state doesn't give them enough to take care of the child properly.

I guess it depends on where you live, I know of a few people that know how to work the system without havin f to lift a finger, and have overheard one specifically want a bunch of children so they can "take care of her"

My wife and I are foster parents, we most definitely are not in it for the money. The cost on our mental health isn't worth it. If you care, the toll it takes on you is really hard to describe. There are amazing moments of seeing a child who struggled begin to truly flourish, but it's incredibly hard work. I think the clinical term is Vicarious Trauma. It's a hell of a ride and we don't regret it a bit.

It's heartbreaking to realise this kid probably compiled this list from experience.

Last year I went to donate to Toys for Tots around the holidays. They asked if we'd buy socks and underwear instead of toys because that's what was requested the most. It's not the same level as this, but it really broke my heart that the one time I was donating to something for fun, basic needs weren't being met enough for the kids to have that.
