I know how people feel. But after you spend countless hours driving and you know where you are, it's easy to know where south is. Like look at roads and see where they lead. "The sun may rise in the east, at least its settled in a final location", rises east sets west. ezpc
Which is why cardinal points are used. If I say turn south you'll always know which way you should turn, the direction you're facing is unnecessary. Most newer cars come equipped with a compass. You can easily download an app onto your smartphone. Many street signs now have N, S, E, or W on them indicating cardinal directions. In this age there really is no reason why you shouldn't be able to determine a direction.
