But.... what did you to to be called those names? It’s contextual isn’t it? If you punch someone, then they punch you, then you punch them- if you edit out the part where you punched them first, you can easily play victim when people say you’re a jerk. “See? Hypocrisy! We both punched each other and IM the asshole?!” That’s not hypocracy. That’s you being called out because you did something to get them upset enough to insult you and there are good odds (especially from the type of person that would post this sort of thing) that you were intentionally trolling for a response. But let’s say you didn’t do ANYTHING first and she just insults you out of nowhere? Ok. A little unfair there that she could say such extreme things and then you’re the jerk. Except... culture. I’ve never gotten upset when someone insulted my mother. My mother sat me down when I was very young and explained she never wanted me to fight over her. She said that what they were saying was either true or it wasn’t...

... but either way starting a fight wouldn’t refute it and it certainly wouldn’t help me out and would just give them what they want. She told me that she’s a strong woman and it doesn’t hurt her feelings and I don’t need to defend her honor because if she feels it’s been insulted she will do so herself. But- many people will get VERY mad if you insult their mothers. So: from my perspective an insult about someone’s mother isn’t so bad. If I apply those same values though- and say “oh, I better not insult this guy’s car, it’s not that serious. I’ll insult his mom.” Well- he may feel an insult about his mom is worse than one about his car. Or maybe they’re equal to him. When we deal with different people and perspectives we must be cognizant that we ant always apply our own values. In that situation why don’t you explain your perspective and discuss the emotional impact her words have on you? Perhaps ask if you’ve somehow offended her? Or... you could shit post all day.
