Theropithecus oswaldi is an extinct species of gelada ( a group of Old World monkeys who's only living member is Theropithecus gelada) that lived in Africa during the Early to Mid Pleistocene. Despite being discovered in 1916, fairly little is known about Theropithecus, just that it seemed to be a specialized grazer like the modern gelada and that it and another similar animal named Dinopithecus were frequently preyed upon by Dinofelis, a sabertoothed cat of the time that also preyed upon early human relatives like Australopithecus. Theropithecus went extinct around 1 million years ago.

The irony of your title amuses me. Excellent work... But also dammit, now I want to go read an encyclopedia article on these guys. Shame on you for making me want to learn before the semester's even started.

My comment is about all they have on the internet that I could find that was easily accessible. And this is what this daily dose is about; learning.

I keep seeing a bear in the gelada in the background.
