Note: ofc not all straight women, but I feel like I’ve been noticing a concerning trend over the past couple of months of straight girls romanticizing men who would MURDER THEM IN COLD BLOOD
Eh, it's not exactly new. This is the one scenario where I'd say let's not forget the twilight/50 shades era.

Whether this is an evolutionary trait leftover wherein women seek out and try and appease guys like this to try and assure their own protection, because they like the thrill, or simply because they enjoy feeling like "yes, he COULD, but I'm the only one he WON'T do this to because he loves me more than any of those other women," or she believes she can change him, which makes the motive slightly narcissistic in it's own way. There's a myriad of theories, but because there's no one size fits all its very hard to say why women seem to fall for guys like this in full knowledge (but apparently not understanding) what that means
I will say that, in the context of this TV show, the character in question is set up to not be entirely unsympathetic
'
That said, thinking about dating someone as mentally unstable as him, and openly admitting you want to indicates a propensity to engage in damaging relationships and I wouldn't classify it as healthy behaviour.
'
.... And neither would the actor who plays the character, hence his response to this (and the myriad other) remarks he's gotten from women like this
Probably a mix of all of this (except the evolution thing), plus a result of how society pressures women into seeing the good even in the worst men (see: the bad boy complex).
