apparently enough people think its music for them to be rich. That's how it seems to go every generation.

Looks haven't changed, it's always been the people in the spotlight that are "attractive" and this usually isn't because they're naturally beautiful. These people are forced to become a prettier version of themselves to please the public eye. "Ugly" people still make fantastic music, they just aren't in the spotlight as much either because they aren't celebrity material or their music isn't what's mainstream at the moment.
