I think it gives you better grip on the cue ball so the cue doesn't slide around before hitting it. Idk tho.

You put in on the tip of your stick so when you try to hit and if you miss is doesnt leave a prevalent mark on the felt table since the chalk is the same color as the felt

Here in aus pretty much all pool tables I've seen are green except our chalk is blue, the only thing I use it for is to chalk up my hand so it slides easier and doesnt grip

Oh i have a green table with green chalk most tables though are blue here and come with blue chalk
