My guess is that she comes from a background where she doesn’t have a lot of exposure to things and lives in a country that has recently been seeing increased global trade and economic availability to lower classes. “Small town girl with big city dreams” or in slang- boojie. She only knows what she’s gathered from pop culture and limited exposure about wealth. She thinks conspicuous displays of wealth are how you show people your social status and she wants people to envy her. She needs to learn that class and money aren’t the same thing- and that having money tests out class and character by giving us the freedom to act to our nature. She has a lot of growing to do as a person and sees money as a way to show others how worthy or how much “better” you are instead of a means to be able to live the best life you can. Money isn’t an ends it is a means, and how we use it says more about us then how much we have.
