I used to commute on my bike, and this was my biggest peeve -- I'd see bikes blow through red lights, right by a cop car, and never get a ticket. I don't know why cops let this slide.

I heard a “cycling activist” say we need to be less prejudiced about what conveyances people were using. Which is ???? Guy, if you can consistently go between 30 and 80 and accelerate at a roughly equivalent rate as a car, I got no issue. IF YOU CANT, GET OFF THE ROAD. I don’t care that you are getting exercise and feel like you’re keeping up. You’re not. You’re interrupting traffic flow which is not only annoying, but potentially dangerous. This is not an issue of you getting acceptance; this is about you accepting physical reality.

I’m all for downsizing. Sometimes you need a 15 passenger land yacht. Sometimes that air compressor or desk just won’t fit in your smart car and you need a truck. But when one person is getting from point A to B 10-15 miles away or less? I love 2 wheel transport and be it Scooter, motorcycle, or bicycle I think people should travel that way more. I also think our roadways need to be designed to better accommodate motorized and human powered vehicles. Buuuut... so many cyclists and riders do stuff like this and it makes me furious. (If it’s legal for bikes to ride street or sidewalk where you live-) If you want to use a crosswalk- walk the damn bike and adhere to pedestrian rules. If you are riding in the street- be a car. Signal- even if it’s hand signals, obey road signs and markers, obey all the rules a car would. Just because it’s easy for you to ride over a center divide or blow through a stop light where the pedestrian light in your direction is green- doesn’t mean you should.
