Artist: Nickelback
Song: Lullaby
Lyrics:
Well, I know the feeling
Of finding yourself stuck out on the ledge
And there ain't no healing
From cutting yourself with a jagged edge
I'm telling you that
It's never that bad
Take it from someone who's been where you're at
Laid out on the floor
And you're not sure
You can take this anymore
'
[Chorus]
Just give it one more try
To a lullaby
And turn this up on the radio
If you can hear me now
I'm reaching out
To let you know that you're not alone
And if you can't tell, I'm scared as well
Cause I can't get you on the telephone
So just close your eyes
Here comes a lullaby
Honey, your very own lullaby
'
Please let me take you
Out of the dark and into the light
Cause I have faith in you
That you're gonna make it through another night
Stop thinking about
The easy way out
There's no need to go and blow the candle out
Because you're not done, you're far too young
And the best is yet to come
'
[Chorus]
'
Well, everybody's hit the bottom
And everybody's been forgotten
Everybody's tired of being alone
Yeah, everybody's been abandoned
And left a little empty-handed
So if you're out there barely hanging on
'
[Chorus]
'
Honey, here comes a lullaby
Your very own lullaby
I know there's a lot of hate for this band, but this has always been a very personal song for me. Particularly the line "If you can't tell I'm scared as hell cause I can't get you on the telephone." I won't go into details, but it resonated with some of the darkest nights of my life.
'
I've known a lot of people who have become suicidal. One in particular this song meant a lot to us.
'
My point with all of this is that, it's come to my attention recently that there have been more than a few people from this website who have turned to suicide recently. I don't know their stories. I don't know their struggles or their lives or what lead them to it. I just know there's a lot of people who only wish they'd known or understood.
So to all of you out there, I hope if you're struggling, if you feel like whatever demons you have are winning, please don't be afraid to reach out. Maybe it will change nothing. But maybe it will change everything
