I found this very funny. But it’s actually a serious point. In the 80’s/90’s they started making car alarms that yelled things like “Help!” In a frightened female voice. They were made illegal because- as we all know with car alarms- most of the time when one goes off no one cares. We get used to hearing people accidentally hit the panick button or fail to disarm it right, or over sensitive sensors being set off by wind or loud deep noises, animals or people just walking too close. Somee drown the sound out and generally ignore it. If car alarms yelled “help” like a panicked human.... we’d be more likely to be conditioned to expect that to just be a car alarm than a person. Likewise- if you got used to this you might actually start to just assume that anything that looked like a “classic catalog model” child was fake and ignore it as a potential danger and speed through.
