Stan Lee's social network accounts are being used by Marvel to promote Captain Marvel. The thing is, Stan Lee was a shameless promoter and gave Marvel permission to do it and even then, they didn't it was Stan's own company POW! Entertainment. Even in death he's selling himself as a brand. This is straight up incel "waahhh Brie is a feminist" bullshit... and in making this sort of attack, it absolutely ignores who Stan THE MAN, actually was as a person; that's the true "dishonoring" of the memory.
It's bass-ackwards.
I mean, we all know he can't act for shit, every single cameo is so god awfully acted it's literally meant to pull your attention away from the movie so you can go "ahahaha Stan Lee!". There's nothing subtle. Why the fuck would they change?!
Forgetting him, or "putting him behind us" would be the real insult to his legacy. The dude literally achieved it, immortality. The house of mouse now has the technology to just go recreate him whenever the fuck they want (watch Captain Marvel and just look at SLJ, who has now also achieved it).
"That's what all men want, immortality; I just want it more." - Brad Pitt as Achilles.
"What we do in life, echo's in eternity" - Russell Crowe as Maximus Decimus Meridius.
That's what Stan wanted; immortality through pages and now films, that will never crumble against time (possibly even survive the extinction of the human race).
