Don't overcomplicate this or take it personally: -->HE'S 8 YEARS OLD<-- Use his comment as a learning experience for him. You know, "WOW, kid! Thanks a lot. That hurts my feelings because I'm actually just fat haha. Listen to this pro tip - I'm about to help you out a lot in life if you remember it: if you ever see someone who might be fat or might have a baby in their tummy, it will hurt their feelings and it will make you seem like you are being mean if you ask if they have a baby in their tummy. Does that make sense?"

Don't let young kids hurt your feelings. They're clueless. It's up to you as the older person to speak politely and directly to what they did and explain why it was good or bad. Kids appreciate that stuff if it's done right. They can usually learn manners really quickly. There's your parenting advice for the day lol
Okay story time! (Since it has been a while)
So my whole family was having dinner in peace, sewers all full and processing to have some fruits then my 3 year old niece was asking something (that I already forgot) so I told her that her mother's stomach was getting bigger since she's pregnant with her little sibling.
And dear my beloved Gods, she turned to her father and said he must had been pregnant too! And I just "yea, probably triplets or something."
My little brother who is 10 year old is the opposite.
My sis in law told me that when she was over 7 months in pregnancy (her stomach was showing very obvious then), he came to her and asked nervously if she's having a baby.
.
Kids are good sources of entertainment, very expensive though.
