Someone found a dirty, hungry cat, gave it some food and a bath, then posted the pictures on the internet so everyone could marvel at what a "good person" they are.
Have you ever had a cat? Because in my family we've adopted two strays, and the second one was looking like the one on the pic when we found her. And yes, we nurtured her back to health. We were proud of course. But I can guarantee these people are not boasting about themselves, they're boasting about their cat. They're in awe at this little phoenix. They want to share hope and mostly their amazement. It's really an incredible feeling when a little being you thought would die in two days turns out beautiful, healthy, loving, and you realize they've become a big part of your life. At least that's what I'm seeing in this picture.
Also, it's not "some food, a bath, a picture", these photos were obviously taken several months apart, so even if their goal was selfish, the benefit is real.
