the picture has the original intention of the TIP, To Insure Promptness, this was meant so you give it to your waiter/waitress before the meal, ensuring you got good service based on how well you tipped. Somewhere along the line, it happened at the end, as a reflection of the service

So, it would not be insure. It would be ensure. Secondly, tips should not include tax, so not total bill. Thirdly, as a person in food service: tip us when we exceed expectations not because of some bullshit societal expectation or some grammatically incorrect meme. I mean for fuckkksssss sake.

No, as someone who's been in the food service, at least in the U.S, unless you receive crappy service BY the server, please tip because they aren't paid nearly minimum wage to bs loopholes and rely on tips to survive.

From what I know, yes, this is the case. Tip because the system is busted.

When i go to the philippines, i tip, like a lot, taxis are cheap as, 250php ride, i give 500php, food, i tip more than the "minimum", more so because theire daily salary is nothing compared to western wages, I literally get paid more in an hour than what most there get paid in a week.
