Can't help but notice that what used to be called a centrist political position is now "far right." As we've voted farther and farther to the left, things have gotten progressively worse.
One example, not, economic, is how students used to bring hunting rifles to school to leave on a hunting trip straight from there. Nobody shot up a school. Now, after decades of MORE LAWS, gun violence is higher, and the "solution" is more laws for the law-abiding to obey, but the law breakers are willing to break seven or eight instead of just five.
But, yeah, keep voting for more "free stuff" like health insurance or college tuition or generous welfare benefits for illegal immigrants, and imagine that it'll be paid for by taxing "the rich."
I'm wondering if it might have something to do with the psychological side of morality, rules, and responsibility for the self, and maybe even with the lack of true altruism?
My logic goes as follows (please feel free to ask/contribute points, I'm just feeling out a concept here):
1. Morality, as determined by the self - is something of personal responsibility, personal governing and self-improvement. You do what you think is right in the world of chaos. Strong focus here on the self and immediate groups they belong to.
2. Government or country laws set rules to make general state of chaos less chaotic and more, well, governable, with the ultimate aim of making it better for everyone.
3. Self-regulation and betterment of the self is governed, with set rules saying what is and what is not acceptable. Chaotic society calms.
Rules and laws are accepted and executed to the letter, for the greater good of peace....
... and it works for a while.
4. Governing own morality is then deemed less important, as laws govern them for you.
5. Less focus is set on personal responsibility, which then roller-coasters into a mentality of "It's not my fault so I'm not fixing it" - complete lack of personal responsibility, making it SEP (somebody else's problem), and thus, becomes ignored.
6. In the wake of this, problems build up. Lack of personal morality and governing of the self, admitting mistakes and critically evaluating own actions has blewn out the door. Lying, thieving, etc. is the norm. Thus, we are back to a chaotic state.
7. Stricter rules are enforced in an attempt to curb the chaos.
8. People may begin to resent and fight these laws governing morality if they feel it is not according to their own wishes, too strict or too limiting, contributing to the chaos.
You get SJWs, far left and far right parties, all attempting to curb the chaos to a governable state once again. However, it requires...
... cathartic release.
9. Attempts are made to right the wrongs drastically, which then..
10. ..flip the boat and in the process may severely negatively affect the other parties who were on the top previously (people become anti-men, anti-white people, anti-Western, as opposed to straight-up equality of all walks of humanity).
11. The boat rocks back and forth until it either reaches stabilisation, or barrel rolls out of control.
12. Complete uprise may follow, cathartic release is achieved, and we are back to post-war where you have to learn to govern yourself and build everything up from the ground.
13. Rinse, repeat, recycle.

As I've said, I'm just feeling out concepts here, and I'm not too sure if I've worded it correctly, so feel free to ask questions or to contribute.
