Bos primigenius primigenius, more commonly known as Aurochs, were an extinct species of large wild cattle that lived all across Eurasia and Africa. It is the ancestor to all modern cattle, with Texas Longhorn and Iberian Fighting Bulls being the most similar to their extinct ancestor. Aurochs went extinct relatively recently, the last members dying in the Jaktorów Forest in Poland in the year 1627, going extinct from unrestricted hunting, getting diseases from domesticated cattle, and habitat loss. However, as mentioned, Aurochs live on in their domesticated form. Geneticists are attempting to breed back Aurochs from several cattle breeds: a great number of British Isles breeds such as Highland Cattle contain ancestral DNA, meaning we could indeed bring back Aurochs proper. They also have been immortalized through our art, be it Paleolithic cave paintings or Medieval Coat of Arms and Heraldry.
