“If he lives, and we die, his truth becomes written.” This is very important here. “HIS truth”, as opposed to “OUR truth.” Notice how this is phrased. “History is filled with liars...” “History is written by the victor...” nothing about this says that one truth is superior to another, in fact the ambiguous phrasing of history being filled with liars says it all. The objective truth isn’t now or foreseeable ever available to humans. There are only versions of truth. What is at stake isn’t THE truth- but who’s version of truth gets recorded. Price has said in essence that the fight is one of survival and dominance- not one of ideals or ethics. It’s simply a question of who between them has the strength to make their will reality, not who is right or wrong, “good” or “evil.”
That was just my take on it. It seems it is also your take, and whoever else comprises “we” as well. I’m not trying to “explain” the phrase as I didn’t write it and have no insight into the mindset of the person who did. Merely stating my perspective on it to see if anyone wanted to discuss or had a differing view of things.
I've heard that war doesn't decide who is right, only who is left. So I have to train and fight to make sure my truth is the one written, and the other poor son of a bitch's truth is lost.
I feel like Captain Price is one officer I would not mind serving under.
