Astrapotherium magnum, meaning "Lightning Beast", was an extinct genus of South American mammal that lived during the early to mid-Miocene epoch, around 21 to 11.8 million years ago. It looked very much like a cross between a tiny elephant and a huge tapir. It had 4 hippopotamus-like tusks, 2 on either jaw, that flanked a fleshy trunk. It would've lived much like a hippo, living in shallow water and feeding on water plants. In size it was about the size of a water buffalo, measuring up to 8.2 feet long and weighing up to 2200 pounds, supporting its weight on relatively weak hindlimbs and heavily built forelimbs.
