I find it weird people think superman caused SO much damage in Man Of Steel. There WAS a lot of damage in that movie but how much of it was really Supermans fault?
1. There was a few crashing flying things but the villains did that, and Superman usually tried and sometimes succeeded in stopping them.
2. Pretty sure he destroyed a gas station or something like that... by being THROWN into it and then a vehicle being thrown into it. I don't consider that supermans fault, but okay, there's a case to be made there.
3. His 'parents' house. Again, not really his fault, he was barely on the planet then.
4. The majority of a city, which probably killed tens of thousands of people... because of that giant machine that was altering the earth to make it Krypton, which was set by the villains and Superman STOPPED.
5. Punching general Zod right the fuck through a building at the end - That ones on superman. That was unnecessary.
Still, Superman doesn't deserve the crap he gets for collateral
