Na its real. Its called a Pigg-o-stat. I'm an X-ray tech. We usually don't use it, but sometimes we have to, to get the best X-ray with no motion or rotation.

OMG...a pigostat. Best device to hold a baby still! Now they just get radiated to death. Say hello to Leukemia by 25 with today's standards! N for those who say this is sick, either hold ur baby tight for an X-ray or stay the F***K home!

Propping the baby straight up as to get a perfect x ray that could save his life is "sick"?

You have to be still and nothing in the way of what they're trying to x-ray. Babies aren't known for their listening skills.

The baby looks indifferent

It doesn't hurt them at all. Slight discomfort yeah but being in something that constricting is actually quite comforting. Indians...some still do. They take a board and tie the baby tightly to it (Well not too tight to cut off circulation). I forget what is is called but it relaxes baby. A friend was given one the day her child was born and when the baby cried she would tie the baby to the board and the baby instantly falls asleep

Just because your brother's X-ray was done differently does not mean this is fake. This is actually very real. I'm an X-ray tech and have used this before. It's called a Pigg-o-stat and is a device used to get quality images on babies due to their inability to follow commands like, sit still and hold your breath. Please, you and everyone like you would benefit from not making yourself look like an idiot by simply researching before commenting on something you know NOTHING about
