indoctrination is really strong in that one. I get that it's a symbol but I think it's going a bit too far. Why is a life less important than a piece of fabric?
Millitary tradition of the time. I don't see why you got a,downvote for a question. I gave you an up vote. That tradition ,fortunately , has died away. But kudos to the sgt for fulfilling his duty.
army is ridiculous. i'm with purplepumpkin on this one. i'd just might add that there's still a lot of ridiculousness going on that has yet to go extinct.
i know we humans need the sense of purpose most than anything if we want any sort of a feeling of happiness and fulfillment in life but honestly, it could go some other, more productive, less insane way. forgive me but the whole romanticizing of armed forces and veterans and stuff that goes on in the usa ... p. insane. it's a bit similar to romanticizing mental ilness in my opinion except people aren't actually encouraged to become mentally ill, contrary to ... other things.
Do you seriously not know the connection between African-Americans and the civil war? The flag is not just symbolizing the union, but his very humanity and freedom. Yes, his life was shit even emancipated, but he was willing to die protecting the flag that showed he would die a free man.
