If I haven’t talked to you in 2-3 decades we are probably still friends. In fact- you may be one of my best friends. That deep friendship knows no distance of time or space, and while you don’t need to know every detail of every day of their life- when you meet or speak again it is as if no time or distance has passed. At maximum level you don’t even get excited to see them after all that time- because they were never gone, they’ve been with you every moment since you last met, because you’ve grown so close that through memories and things you’ve learned from them you carry them with you in who you are. Most of all you know that mutually even if you haven’t spoken in a lifetime- if one of you called the other tomorrow and said you needed help, the other would come and aid it be that a ride to the store or to fight the demon badger hordes of hell with your bare hands.
