I was going to comment about how performing the dances over dead bodies is teaching kids how to be rude, but then I remembered how much I teabagged in Halo, so...

Kids that were in their early teens and played Pokémon made fun of kids for yughio. Kids who played magic the gathering made fun of kids who played Pokémon. And so on and so on. We tend to have selective memories. When we see someone else do something like speed while driving- we often think they are a fool or a lunatic who is selfish and dangerous. But when WE are the ones doing it it’s different. They were “out of control” and “breaking the rules dangerously,” while we are obvious in control and being safe in our doing it. To an outside observer though we are now the lunatic. We tend to forgive our own selves the same indulgences we criticize in others- and objectively any hobby can seem dumb or destructive when it isn’t our own hobby.

Except no that's not the case. People are bashing on fortnite because it's just another rehashed format that's been around for a while. There's nothing new about fortnite except for its building feature. But fortnite is like a culture to these kids they act it in public, in their daily lives, and consume it like crazy. It would be weird too if someone acted like captain price from the cod series or reznov or something like that. If they treated like a culture that can't be criticised and live and breathed it like it was one of the most important things to exist then we'd shit on it the same way we do fortnite. Fortnite leaves a bad taste in peoples mouths because of how these kids treat it and how they consume it. It's obnoxious.

I dunnoh. It’s all really made up anyway. Quite often the person in charge of an office or even a country is objectively the “best” or even qualified. It comes down to the way we choose to present ourselves to the world. The stock market that underpins our world is all made up- and the money it represents isn’t tied to any tangible value. A bunch of people got together, decided this slip of paper was “worth” more than the other and agreed on it. They’re acting it out in their daily lives and consuming it like crazy and it’s all bullshit. We could just as easily use fortnite skins or Pokémon cards as stocks, and even their pretend value isn’t set but indexes to how a person feels about them at any moment and not any actual real thing. That’s all society is- a bunch of people agreeing to play pretend because it beats the law of the jungle.
