Ah yes. Europe has no mass shootings in schools. Road well trodden. If history is any indicator that makes a lot of sense. The peoples of Europe have a strong history of doing anything, whatever the cost, to feel safe and secure. The Germans followed the NSDAP and its policies to feel secure and strong. The masses of France proffered under boot to the whip. When the Nazis were no longer a threat and the Soviets were- Churchill himself wanted to rearm the Nazis to fight the USSR. In parts of Europe, it’s a crime to accuse the government of having helped on the Holocaust. So I understand why some Europeans seem to be so confused that so many Americans would trade safety for freedom and protection from tyranny. The continent that birthed Fascism may not understand how people might not want to risk it.

Perhaps one could point out that the deaths from American school shootings would have to carry on for some time to equal the deaths from civil war and revolution in Europe. The US is a Young county and has only had the one civil war after all- but there are still military conflicts and threats waging in Europe to this day. My point isn’t to bag on Europe as much as it is to say- perhaps get your House in order before making fun of mine. The US is only a couple hundred years old and despite our civil war has kept it together. When you can keep a union running that long- without using military force- call us. The EU seems like it could use some advise.
