About half of these are because it's usually poor business practice to kill your customers. Union regulations smother ma and pop shops to death on the regular, usually the big businesses are backing shit like required leave and minimum vocations specifically to kill the competition.

There are some good points here. But it’s a stretch in many places for instance- Joe might get his water from a well- then Joes water may or may not be clean because... ground water pollution is a complex mix of factors including what normal citizens choose to do. Joe, the conservative, with his well and property- might just have clean air because.... of where he lives.

See- places like LA or many large California cities are in valleys. Depending on geological features and weather/wind patterns some areas are less prone to collect air pollution in high concentrations. That’s why if you used “copy paste” on LA and put it in the middle of some flat flyover state- the air quality and smog could improve just from the location. Living far away from heavy industry etc also help.

What car is Joe driving? Like many people he may drive an older vehicle which didn’t have modern safety equipment. Seatbelts weren’t even required in cars 40 odd years ago. I’ve owned at least 3 cars that didn’t come with belts. But you know... Joe might not care about how safe is car is. Joe might subscribe to the school of thought that it’s better not to crash an unsafe car than crash a safe one. Or joe might just accept there is personal risk to operating a motor vehicle. Joe might ride his motorcycle in a tank top and flip flops without a helmet. It’s Joe’s life.

The modern emissions and efficiency systems in vehicles also might not be Joes thing. Many areas of the country don’t actually do emissions testing and “ranch trucks” and vehicles used on private property don’t have emissions requirements. So Joe might not care. In fact, if Joe is a rural dweller It isn’t Joe who is primarily responsible for pollution caused by private citizens.

It's a shame that some people will read that and view conservatism accordingly.
