Even though I hate it, I also understand that on a deeper level, the desire to mod a really basic tool/car/computer/anything really to the fullest possible extent it can go without completely destroying it. I feel that. Like fuck as much as I sneer at the dudes with their modded civics, shit they're doing the dream, fixing shit and improving shit.

they’re having fun, and it just so happens that civics are common, relatively cheap and reliable, and easy to get decent aftermarket parts and modify it

Jdm is loud and obnoxious? Trucks are compensating? Why don't I hear any hate for my muscle car? Or those boring economy vehicles?
