never understood this, "i'm having a bad day, so it's my right to make yours bad as well"

I think the original was intended towards people who bail during bad times and show up for success only. That being said I know people use it to excuse poor behavior. I just am not sure I agree with the whole statement but they seem to be trying to put out an accepting comforting message so?
