It's hard to see, but there is an intertwined area from the oak, and the oak is literally pulling the other tree. The offshoots that became entangled due to the squirrels have grown into 2 inch thick branches. They use it to cross the alley so they don't get hit by a car. It was made by the squirrels, and the squirrels keep it.
Oh, there is a pic from 32 weeks ago that I posted that shows the tree before the bridge really took hold. The bridge itself is older, but you can see that 32 weeks ago that tree on the right was pretty much upright.
