Coming from someone who has 5 brothers and a husband who is a loving father and husband, and a hard worker but suffers from anxiety, trust me Men need this just as much as women do.
I am not a feminist. I am an Equalist. I believe there should be shelters for abused husbands. I believe men need fairytales where they are not just saving the damsel but being the scientist or the fireman or policeman or the hero. He doesn't need to save his love he could just defeat the bad guy. Or do it for his family. How many boys know Jack and the bean stalk now in days? But they know all about Anna and Elsa.
Where is the G I JOES with normal bodies. Why does superman, Batman, iron Man, captain America all have to be muscles.
Captain Americas movie is about how he is small and nothing but once he got the muscles he was able to save the day.
That is just like saying to a girl the only reason that boy doesn't like you is because you don't have big enough boobs and don't wear make up.

This is some movie nerd shit so feel free to ignore because I don't wanna snuff your point, but Captain America's point is he was already a great guy before the muscles and that's what makes him great. Not being the perfect soldier, but a good man.
But he didn't get the respect from his peers or girls looking at him TILL he had the muscle. Hell the minute he had the muscle is when he is instantly seen chasing the bad guys. He was even rejected from the army many times. As if they were saying sorry you can't be a hero you are to puny.

Peggy Carter is seen building respect for him a lot before he ever got the muscles. Sure she thought he was awkward, but he was still awkward even after the serum. She admired his bravery for throwing himself on a grenade for his fellow soldiers and his wit for taking down the flag when the other big guys couldn't nab it. The only thing that really changed for her after he buffed up is that she found him attractive, which muscles will do.
Steve is also seen fighting injustice well before he gets the serum. One of his first scenes is standing up to a bully despite his size because he was causing a ruckus during a movie. He mentions getting beaten up a lot, so he likely stands up to bullies all the time.
The army may have turned him away but the one guy that approves him does so not because he has the qualities of a tough guy, but because Steve is a good man. We aren't supposed to side with the army who keeps turning him away, but with Steve who only wants to do what he thinks is right.

Sorry, I just dont agree that Captain America is a negative role model for men. Dude has become one of my heroes over the last decade and I don't jive with that idea. His muscles were never the point.
