Accept not really. I highly recommend John Oliver’s recent segment on prison as it really goes in depth as to how expensive someone being in prison is on the family. In a lot of prisons they don’t even get all of the hygiene products (especially pads/tampons) they need, and if they were to work to buy more it’s not even a guarantee they get paid for their work. Even contacting their family on the outside can cost around 4$ a day and that’s for incredibly short “visits” as prisons are turning away from physical contact to video calls
