That’s the adult part of the world. On the one hand- that’s disgusting yes. On the other hand- if Amazon or whoever does a charity drive and raises millions or billions- that’s more money for charity than yesterday- and because these companies are vocal and prominent- they have the platform to solicit donations from a wider audience. It’s like that whole “you get $1mill but someone you don’t want to get money gets $2mill..” thing.

Or- in other words- the person who gives $1 at the checkout line wasn’t likely going to go out and find a charity to give that $1 to. It was easy and right there- so they did it. So large portions of these corporate driven donations would never be made at all otherwise. Everything a company does costs money or or worth money- so unless we want to make it the law that private business must act also as social welfare agents- or just legally compel businesses to advertise charities for free- then there would need to be some sort of incentive wouldn’t there?
