But... Ricky Gervais IS part of the Hollywood Elite, he does have more school than Greta T... he started st UCL in biology and after two weeks switched to a degree in philosophy. So while I don’t disagree overall with his message at the awards- I’m just saying that lecturing the Hollywood elite about not lecturing other people when they aren’t subject matter experts... that’s a little meta. Like- he’s the “real” one on that crowd you know? All these other rich folks doing make believe for a living... they don’t know man. They don’t know what the real world is like. Not like Ricky. But... he regularly speaks on causes. He endorses political parties or candidates, he was PETA person of the year 2013 for his advocacy of animal rights, and in not saying that’s bad.... it’s good.

I’m saying he’s a bit of a hypocrite that he can speak out about whatever it is that he is passionate about- and that a degree in philosophy and 2 weeks of biology 20 odd years back make him the guy who knows what he’s taking about- I’m sure- but that when other celebrities want to use their money or time or platforms for what they believe in they are all clueless entitled twats? Hmmm.... I dunnoh. I’m a sell out. I admit it. I work with sellouts. I like money. I don’t like sellouts. Here I am. I try to do good with the spoils selling out brings me- but I’m still a sellout. What am I going to say to a room of sellouts? “You’re app sell outs?” Yeah. So am I. It doesn’t make me a hero for realizing it. I’m self aware- if anything that makes it worse because those other sellouts may not even realize they are doing it- I do.

So Ricky is smart enough to know these Hollywood types... so he’s either aware he’s one of them- which is worse since that means he has a choice and it isn’t just him being natural- or he is unaware and that’s sad but also funny. Like standing naked before a crowd at a school play and yelling at them for not wearing pants in front of the kids like a civilized person.
