I don't think it's like your dog recognizing you, I think it's more like... yo', dude's a dope ass cleaning station with benefits. Of course I'm with him on the point that they aren't mindless man-eaters. They aren't, not even close. I've never heard of a moose eating someone, doesn't take away from the capacity for harm.
I dunno if you read my synopsis of "Finding Bruce" awhile back, but this reminded me that. Basically Steve Irwin saves a baby great white, who then hunts down the stingray that stabbed him, eats the ray, feels the guilt, swears off fish, then goes on a quest where he realizes that reminds him what being a shark is all about so he meets all the cool characters on his quest that takes him to the coast of South Africa where he has to go Simba on some orcas, but unlike Simba against Scar and hyenas, he's outmatched but still wins.
