My dad's trick was also good: let's go nap together! He knew I hated naps but he'd told me that no one could open the door when we were napping. I do realise that it sounds like the beginning of a pedophile joke, but no, he only pointed out that we'd be sleeping and no one would see us, "not even mom" and basically hinted that as long as I let him sleep I could touch everything in the room without getting trouble.
I know that I was super cautious because my mom later told me that she used to cheat and spy on us, and apparently most of the times I would just watch him sleep and pet his head.
