Long answer:
You CAN, but in poker the only advantage any player has is that their opponents cannot see their cards.
.
If you get an extremely good hand and everyone knows - they're going to fold. They won't add money to the pot and you won't get anything out of it.
.
If you have an extremely BAD hand and everyone knows you now have no chance of bluffing (pretending to have a better hand than you do) and potentially winning that way.
.
And, if you aren't AWARE that other people can see your hand, the problem intensifies. Because you may still TRY and bluff with a crappy hand, thinking you can win.
.
The other players will string you along for as long as possible to make you put as much money into the pot as possible knowing they won't lose to you. More advanced players will also be able to observe your behavior with a crappy hand and start to learn your "tells"
If someone manages to learn your tells and you go up against them in the future, even without them being able to see your cards you're now at a disadvantage.
.
Maybe you have a habit of touching your mouth when you have a bad hand. Player 1 observed this when you had the sunglasses on and realized what it meant.
.
Now anytime you're up against player 1 you'll have to make a conscious effort NOT to do that - assuming you know they figured it out at all.
.
If you don't realize player 1 figured out you have a "tell," then you're right back at the "player 1 is going to string you along and you won't even realize it" stage.
And if you don't know what a "tell" is - a Tell is a specific behavior a person exhibits in response to different hands in poker.
.
Kind of like how in everyday life usually if a person won't meet your eyes you can TELL they're lying to you etc.
.
If someone gets a bad hand they might start tapping their fingers or change the way they're sitting.
.
Similarly, if someone has a bad hand they might start becoming more talkative, smirk, etc.
.
If a player does this routinely it becomes a giveaway to other players what's going on - and the other players will react accordingly.
