Plot holes

He was an illiterate peasant but;
He stole food but fed others,
learnt from his mistakes,
got the girl,
set genie free,

I mean if he becomes sultan and marries her he could still fix most of those things from a seat of power. Plus it would give him time to learn to properly lead ad long term fix.
